FHS Crimson Band - Upcoming Events
Booster Club Meeting -- Tuesday, March 6th at 7 pm, location
TBA. The lady from the Jazz Fest will be there to sign
people up to work the beer booth for both weekends of the
Jazz Fest. She will explain the procedures and answer any
questions. By working the booth, you will receive a parking
pass and an all day pass to the Jazz Fest for that day for
FREE.
Powder Puff Football Game -- Thursday, March 8. This is the
game where the girls play football and the band boosters get
to operate the concession stand. We will need people to set
up from 3-6 and people to work from 6-10. Please sign-up on
Charms if you are available to help out with this activity.
2nd Payment for Band Trip -- A payment of $150 is due this
Thursday, February 16th for the band's end of the year band
trip to Washington, D.C. Please send in your payment in an
envelope with your student's name on it to the band room
mailbox. Or if you have a credit balance on your band
account, you can request the money to be applied to the trip
balance. It is not too late to decide to go on the trip.
There are still several openings if anyone else would like
to go.
Buffalo Wild Wings Spirit Night -- Monday, March 13th.
Buffalo Wild Wings will donate 10% of all pre-taxed food
sales from any guest that brings in the fundraising flyer
(this will be available on our website and we will be
sending them home from the band room in the next few days)
to the band. It's a great time for the band family to
socialize and have fun just being together without having to
perform or have an activity. Please put this night down on
your family calendar.
Don't forget our Flamingo Flocking Fundraiser. If you know
anyone that would like to send a flock of our lovely pink
ladies to someone, please have them contact Amy Benson at
985-705-0906 or Stephanie Kelly at 985-629-4106. The flyer,
order forms and anti-flocking insurance forms are on the
website below.
Mr. Hicks' yard was
flocked last night as our first victim and here is a picture
that was posted on Facebook by his neighbors. You can't see
them all, but there were 25 pink flamingoes in his yard !!

Hello Parents! We are ready to get going on our next fundraiser.....
Flamingo Flocking.
Here's how it works:
For a donation of $30.00 to the FHS Band, a yard of the customer's choice will be flocked with 25 flamingoes sometime during the evening. The flock will remain in place for 24 hours, with a catchy sign that says "You've Been Flocked". A note of explanation for the "victim" will be attached to the sign or around the neck of one of the birds. The next evening, the flock will be picked up and returned to their home base.
For a $10 donation to the FHS band, anti-flocking insurance can be purchased. This protects the designated yard for a period of 60 days, at which time the insurance policy will expire and the yard becomes free territory once again.
We will have two flocks of 25 so we can flock two houses per night. Each flocking will require a two person team. There will be a sign up sheet in the band room on Monday morning, 2/13/12 for students to sign up to be "a Flocker".
Once a team is assigned to a mission, they are responsible for placing the birds on the first evening, picking up the birds on the second evening, cleaning the birds if necessary and returning the birds to their home base.
Each student on the team will receive $15.00 for each flocking to put towards their band fees or band trip. Any flocking insurance collected goes to purchasing and maintaining the birds.
The goal is for people to see the flocked yards and then want to pay to have their friends or family's yards flocked. Hopefully this will snowball into a huge demand for our "Pink Ladies". We will be sending flyers to our feeder schools to broaden our customer base. The flyer is attached for anyone that would like to let others know about this very "fun" fundraiser.
Amy Benson and Stephanie Kelly are the team leaders on this fundraiser. Feel free to contact them with questions or comments.

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES
We will have several opportunities for everyone to earn their
fundraising dues.
Place Your Scrip orders:
Debbie and Alan Henton are our new SCRIP coordinators. Beginning in January, we will begin delivery of SCRIPS to their house at:
57 Audubon Lake Drive, which is off of Sharp Road in the Audubon Lake neighborhood.
Monday night at 10:00 p.m., beginning
January 2nd. SCRIP cards usually come in on the following Thursday;
sometimes they come in early and arrive Wednesday.
Alan travels sometimes, but when he is home, he works from home. Debbie
works during the day about a mile from the high school. They
will try
to let anyone ordering know if someone will be home during the day
or not. To anyone paying by check, you can drop a check in our
mailbox if they are not home. Call Debbie or Alan on their cells before you come over.
They live at 57 Audubon Lake Drive, (off Sharp Road). They are
the last house on the left, on the corner. Everyone uses the side
door.
On your Family Home page onshopwithscrip.com,
in the lower right corner, check the announcements. We will try to
keep you guys updated.
Thanks so much, and let us know if we can make the process better.

I can not stress enough how much money our band
parents are earning in their child's band account by purchasing gift
cards to use for every day purchases. I see families ordering
restaurant cards and grocery cards and earning $30-$50 per order.
If you are not set up to order you still have time to start an account.
If you want to pay with Presto Pay, that must be set up in advance. It takes about 5 days to get approval.
Once approved, send Debbie Henton the approval code and she will activate your Presto Pay account on
Shopwithscrip.com.
Otherwise, if paying by check or cash, enter your order online at shopwithscrip.com and send payment to the school or get
it to Debbie
(if she goes online and does not see an order, she does NOT go to the school to look for orders or checks).

Congratulations Haley Bruch!
Haley received the 1st Place Award for Best Solo Performance
Class 3A-4A at LA Showcase 2011
THANK YOU!
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who came out in force to
support our band at Showcase.
Because we had such a great crew, we were able to get our props on
and off the field in great time.
A special thanks to Mike Rojas for leading the props build and
donating so much of his time and to
all those that helped build the props, pack all the trailers and
pull them to Lafayette and back.
Of course the costume change that was one of the crowd favorites
wouldn't have been possible without
the tireless hours our sewing volunteers spent, night after night
helping our band look so awesome.
This band would not be able to put on the types of shows people
around the state have come to expect
from us without all of your help. Job well done!
Our little contribution helped our incredible band bring home yet
another
Reserve Grand Champion award!!!

2011-2012 All State Winners!!!
